Kitchen Cook

Full-Time, Seasonal, February to Mid-November
Location: Outdoor Education Camp, Portola, CA

Kitchen Cooks prepare and serve meals for students, staff, and guests at our Outdoor Education Camp in Portola, California. This position relies on a person who is dependable, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented kitchen environment. Cooks work closely with the Kitchen Manager and Kitchen Lead to provide high-quality meals while maintaining excellent hospitality and customer service.

Responsibilities include preparing and cooking meals, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen, properly operating and caring for kitchen equipment, and following food safety and sanitation standards. The Cook must multitask, work collaboratively, and maintain a high level of productivity and professionalism. Weekend and evening availability is required as needed, and California ServSafe certification is required.

Cooks consistently demonstrate safe work practices, reliability, punctuality, and a commitment to Sierra Nevada Journeys’ mission and values. They work cooperatively with colleagues, students, guests, and other members of the Sierra Nevada Journeys community while helping create a welcoming and positive camp experience.
